Kitchen by San Francisco Architect Andre Rothblatt to Be Featured on Cover of the Premiere Issue of Small Kitchen Magazine

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) July 20, 2011

The cover of the first-ever issue of Small Kitchen will feature a ?modern bistro?-style kitchen designed by San Francisco residential architect Andre Rothblatt. The kitchen design makes use of various techniques to make the small space feel more expansive, including decorative open shelving, a wall-mounted pot pack, and a free-standing butcher block island in the center.

?I am honored to have my design chosen by Small Kitchen,? said Rothblatt. ?This particular kitchen used some rather unorthodox methods to make the most of a limited amount of space, creating an open, welcoming, and fun atmosphere.?

The kitchen featured on the cover of Small Kitchen combines an Old-World look with modern convenience. Rothblatt worked closely with the client, who is a wine sommelier and avid cook, to create the updated bistro look. The client takes cooking end entertaining as serious business, and she was an active participant in the design of the kitchen.

The focus of the kitchen is a six-burner range with a shiny stainless steel hood. The countertops are likewise stainless steel, the cabinets are simply painted white, and white subway tiles to the ceiling providing a simple yet interesting backdrop. Space-saving features such as a wall-mounted pot pack and a smaller, store-bought butcher block island (instead of a larger fixed island) give the kitchen both versatility and flair. The whole look is brought together by the black and white checkerboard floor.

Rothblatt knows that in San Francisco, where real estate is at a premium and spaces can be compact, kitchens must be efficient to make full use of the small space. But he also knows that a small kitchen can have a big personality.

?By using the space creatively, you can turn a cramped, inconvenient kitchen into a warm, welcoming environment,? Rothblatt explains. ?It just takes a little imagination.?

The RTA Store Expands its Product Line by Adding New Finishes

Fishkill, New York (PRWEB) May 29, 2011

Just months after one major expansion, The RTA Store expands again by offering a much larger number of finishes available in its RTA cabinets and flooring options. The retailer kicked off 2011 by adding hardwood and laminate flooring to its offerings, and now company president Tyler Ackerman hopes the new, expanded line of finishes that are being offered will benefit their customers even more.

Ackerman says, ?We are thrilled to be able to continue expanding our offerings at The RTA Store. Our company was built on providing excellent customer service, and our continued expansion shows just how important it is to us so that we can continue to help our customers greatly.?

The RTA Store now has over 40 finishes of RTA kitchen cabinets and more than 30 additional finishes in laminate and hardwood flooring. The company sells only solid wood and plywood kitchen cabinets on its original site, TheRTAStore.com, and it also offers a wide variety of natural wood finishes in flooring to match its RTA cabinets.

In February of this year, The RTA Store launched a new website expanding its product line to include hardwood flooring and laminate flooring. The addition of flooring came on the heels of the retailer becoming America?s largest internet retailer for RTA cabinets and discount kitchen cabinets.

The retailer credits its customers and staff members with the success of The RTA Store and its ability to expand its offering to include even more finishes in hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, and kitchen cabinets than ever before.

About the RTA Store:

The RTA Store is a family-owned and operated online retailer of RTA flooring and kitchen cabinets. The company sells products from reputable companies customers trust.

Kitchens.com Creates Virtual Kitchens to Illustrate Elements of Kitchen Design

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) June 09, 2011

It’s the layout of the kitchen?and not its color or its style?that determines how easy it is to cook, eat and socialize in the kitchen. In the new Common Kitchen Layouts feature, Kitchens.com looks at seven of the most frequently used shapes and explains the pros and cons of each.

CGI photo-realistic renders of seven virtual kitchens show not just the floor plans but also multiple photo-realistic angles of each kitchen.

?Using CGI renders helps homeowners to visualize themselves in the kitchen,? says Kitchens.com editor in chief, Kim Sweet. ?For most people who are remodeling, it?s difficult to imagine how they might use the space just by looking at a floor plan.?

It?s also a tremendous challenge to picture the overall look of a new kitchen based only on color samples and product catalogs. To help homeowners better plan their kitchen remodels, Kitchens.com has begun incorporating virtual kitchens into content throughout the site.

For example, Choosing Color by Style, allows users to try out multiple color schemes in different kitchen styles. The Design Boards section shows visitors how product selections and samples chosen by a designer would look in a typical kitchen.

The 2006 Cost & Value Report indicates that 75 to 80 cents of each dollar spent on renovation is returned to a homeowner at resale, with kitchens offering slightly greater returns. Both minor and major kitchen remodeling rank in the top ten remodeling projects for which homeowners can expect to recoup expenses at resale.

“Home buyers seem to gravitate to the kitchen first when they’re looking at a house,” Joe Traynor, a real estate appraiser in Indianapolis, told Bankrate.com. “And as appraisers, we do give extra credit to houses with updated kitchens.”

According to the 2006 Cost & Value report, a minor kitchen remodeling comes in fifth among remodeling projects. A minor kitchen overhaul cost an average of $ 17,928, with homeowners recouping an average of $ 15,278 at resale (85.2 percent). The same report indicates that a major kitchen remodel comes in sixth among renovation projects. A major kitchen re-do cost an average of $ 54,241, with homeowners recouping an average of $ 43,603 (80.4 percent).

According to Better Homes and Gardens, consumers recoup the greatest percentage if they complete minor remodeling–such as new kitchen cabinets or new kitchen cabinet styles accomplished through refacing–and sell within a year.

Kitchens and kitchen design

They say the kitchen is the heart of your home. They say that more than 70% of a family’s time is spent in the kitchen. That seems like lots of time. Seeing that so much time is spent there it’s natural to want to have the kitchen looking good. The kitchen design should be one of welcoming and warmth. You can make subtle little changes to gain this effect.

Or possibly you want to go all out and change your whole kitchen design. This could be lots of fun yet may take a bit of time. You should first decide what feeling you want your kitchen to express. Depending on the kitchen design it could express lots. Consider if you painted the kitchen black, that would not be very warm and inviting. It’s amazing what one can do with a little paint, wallpaper or window coverings. Lights can even play an important role in the kitchen design.

It’s difficult to say what the cost would be if changing your kitchen.

It would depend on what you wanted to do. If it’s as simple as changing a light bulb the cost would be minimum. Yet you may want to redo the whole kitchen, well then that will be a different story. Do keep in mind sometimes the smallest changes can make the biggest difference. It al doesn’t have to be done at one either. You can choose to do a little bit now, wait for feedback then maybe do some more. Invite the opinions of the family as well. They may have some great ideas.

Purchasing or even going to your local library and check out some kitchen design books will give you some great ideas. You may have an idea of what you want yet looking at it in pictures is much different. There are also places online as well to look at. They have some sites that you can pretend with.

It’s a neat program where you enter say pink wall and it will show you a generic room with a pink wall. Then you can keep decorating and it will give you and idea of color combinations. It’s really quite interesting. Keep in mind you do have the choice to make your kitchen and thing you want it to be. The kitchen design can be very simple to very elaborate, it’s all about what you want to express. Start expressing your kitchen today.
